Imagine a movie, a short movie, any media file composed just by images in sequence, without any kind of music. Well, now asky yourself why in the golden age of mute cinema, in the halls there were pianists playing along the movie cenes, playing 'live' as we would have said now. Now imagine Froggy is Back without music. This is even more difficult, ain't it? This introduction was necessary to show how much music, if done well, is important.
Not casually then we have two excellent musicians, Francesco ‘900’ Nicolosi and Martino ‘Polizzi’ Polizzi, or better nown as "Dossi Artificiali". we entrusted to them the realization of the soundtrack of our first short movie, and since they howed great professionalism and since their expiration date was unknown we couldn't reuse them for X-GIFT, as long as they don't stink too much at least.
So this year the collaboration between "Dossi Artificiali" and "Reibe Studios" has been renewed, just like the oldest african tribal rites (don't ask me what i'm blabbering about, i'm ignoring it and you should do the same) and therefore they too will have to comply with this year's fashion, V-Logs. This week we're proposing the first one, entirely filmed in their
studios, where they work and create. They'll tell you, in this and in the next episodes, how they're working to create the  music for X-Gift, what they've got in mind and much more...
Other news: you may have noticed the appearance of another button (the one with "Dossi Artificiali"'s logo on it) and if you click it it will suck the hell out of you just like Alice in Carroll's novel and take you straight into their blog, so you can read their news and uhm... if you're too lazy to move the mouse here are some links:
dossiartificiali.blogspot.com: this is their official site, where you'll find the next event's dates, their discography and biography, and everything you might wanna know about them and no one ever told you. promise.
www.dossiartificiali.tk: it's the same blog i mentioned before, created only for Xenos project to contain the V-logs and everything their work's related to!
After having stormed your brain with these infos i'll leave you with the first V-Log. Click!

Adesso, cosa più difficile, immaginatevi “Froggy is Back” senza musiche.
Buona visione!

We said, few days ago, that the storyboards were almost done. The drawing of the storyboard indeed has been completed and in a vary short time we went into the successive step: storyreel. This year the storyboartding has been done with images (a lot of!) that closely remind the frames of the final video that we have in mind. So we just joined all the storyboard pictures into a timed sequence and the storyreel was born. Now we have a strong reference and guide for animators and hence we have roughly defined the lenght of the movie. How many drawings were done? No less than 569, thanks to Danilo di Falco. The editing and collation into storyreel was done by Claudio Faro. You may wish to take a lot below to some samples.
A masterwork is getting done!

Last week we announced to the world the choice of the title. Since we're good and Simone Iannuzzi decided (I should say strangely, I didn't expect that in 7 days he would have changed his mind) to declare the title to the same world mentioned above!! I could stay here talking, or better writing, for half an hour about the same old rubbish, to create some suspance, but i won't do it even because it's statistically proved that too long posts are not read. SO i'll tell you that Reibe Studios have chosen "X-GIFT" as title for the new movie! very difficult choice, since we couldn't have guessed the result of the poll launched on our FB private group. Each member could have voted just one title among the 5 proposed titles in the weekly meeting, and from the beginning already it was clearly understood that the result had to belong to a more restricted set. In fact, the whole matter consisted in one X. GIFT or X-GIFT? In the end, for only one vote we chose the X, with the displeasure of many members.
Meanwhile, the technical staff (which is composed by me, Gianni, even if it would sound to be composed by 50 people), created the FB page, SO now you can follow us putting a "LIKE" here on the side (where a beautiful button will appear) or going directly here. Obviously the Xenos project group on FB will keep exsisting. I really wanted to tell you the other three titles, but since Simone Iannuzzi to compensate his Karma has to do one good thing and a bad one, at least for now, it won't be possible! We could have surprised you with special effects, but...

Did you think to get rid of us in 2011? We're sorry to disappoint you but even in the new year we'll be more then ever present, in fact in these very months we'll enter in the core of the realization of our second work. After finishing the storyboard, characters will be modeled (they were just drawn, before that), then rigged and animated with the block animation mode. In these weeks even blueprints and assets well be created. Some of you could be wondering what the title will be, since the project is called Xenos. but what about the short movie one? Well, before Christmas holidays we called an internal poll to decide what name to give to the movie so that since the first meeting in January (we are not losing time, we got back to work the 12th!) and submitted it to prof. Giovanni Gallo, the producer. We can just say that it has been chosen, and it will be revealed later, so you'll have to wait another week. Don't worry anyway, we'll surprise you!

State tranquilli comunque, vi stupiremo!

It is said that at Christmas we are all better people. Despite his heart of stone, Simone was not making me want to kep up the traditional "work" during the holidays, so there won't post before the December 31... Obviously this is clearly an excuse for Reibe Studios, from the producer to me, through the very core of the group, those who actually use Blender, to wish you an happy 2011. Please keep following us just like last year, because this year there will be many surprises...

Although we have a different conception of time from yours, even for us the year is almost over, and it is natural to draw conclusions, being the most classic of activities for the last days of the year, in addition to eating and playing cards...
Then, in 2010. List everything we have done would be a very difficult task, but we can find the "key moments", the key frames that marked our year and so our work. First of all, the birth of Froggy is Back, an event as huge as the final episode of Lost (yes, Danilo Di Falco, we're talking to you, this is a provocation!). The peak has occurred on 18 May, but the job lasted more than nine months, as you had the chance to read in our previous blog, we collected the products of our short film and now it has almost 11 thousand views. That was the springboard for the Studios, which as you know were in the end of October at the Blender Conference in Amsterdam, to present Froggy, and even there we enjoyed enough success. It's been a way for us to meet the creators of Sintel, and to deal with other European artists from all places in the world, and to let them understand how computer scientists and academics can work harmoniously in a project. We jump to the present, Xenos Project: November was the foundation stone for the new short film that will see the light in 2011. In the coming months we shall see the evolution of this second work, here on the blog of course. Now, we think of the new year as full of satisfaction (we tried). Do not expect New Year's greetings now because Simone Iannuzzi said that I will write other articles before December 31... No comment.

No comment.

The last time we missed the appointment  with the weekly update, then I will make a brief summary of everything that has happened in previous episodes.
Previously on Reibe Studios: we left the boys who had completed the script, and were involved in the creation of storyboards. Meanwhile, a small group of Reibe Boys had begun to design the props, which would be served later.
Where do they get there?
Storyboards are almost complete, and in the coming days you will find an article where we will preview some drawings, made by Danilo assisted by Simone. The other group has presented some draft and the next meeting we will see how they completed their work. In January, after the holidays, we'll start the implementation phase of animatics.
Check it all out in the next episode!

Scoprirete tutto nelle prossime puntate!
